How it all started...
As you cruise East along highway 12, away from Santa Rosa and deeper into the rolling fields of vineyards on your way to Sonoma, you’ll find a yellow barn on the edge of town smiling loudly as you pass by. It is at this spot that some of the warmest, kindest, caring people in the world gather as a church family. You’ll find us to be multiethnic and multigenerational because that is what Heaven looks like. Some of us come from right down the street, and some of us have come from all over the world, but we have found life and love in Jesus Christ, and that’s what unites us.
Over thirty years ago, the Lord stirred up Dan Boyd and his wife Billie to come back to where he was born—Santa Rosa, California and start a church. He joined with local doctor Tom McCarthy to build an amazing church called Hope Chapel. Dan had come out of the Hope Chapel family of churches within the movement of FOURSQUARE in the 1980’s. In the decades since, we have seen this hearty group of people welcome, grow, release and build up thousands, some of which have started other churches, grown up in this church, or helped build up the Church in other parts of the world. In 2022, Colby succeeded Dan as our new pastor.
Through the fires, the earthquakes, the pandemics and the challenges of people being people, Hope Chapel continues to be a place where people can find life and love in Jesus Christ, a place where people can love and be loved, mend and help mend others, be trained and help train others, and be sent to help those who need help—locally and globally.
You can be yourself, and learn more about being who you were made to be.
We hope you’ll join your story to His story, and allow us to be part of your story, too.

Reaching & Caring
We want to reach and care for people in Sonoma County and beyond. This means we want to reach new people and care for the ones God brings us. We want to reach our community through caring for needs, inviting people to join us on a growing faith journey, and in making a positive impact on our world. Jesus tells us to reach out to others in the Great Commission so that’s what we do. We also want to care for each other WELL. We want to care for our needs in church community, serving one another in ministries and in authentic relationships. It may sound strange, but we care about caring for each other.
Finding Life & Love
Everyone is looking for somewhere to belong and something to give them meaning. Jesus says really clearly that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He also told us that He has an ABUNDANT life for us. We believe this life is found uniquely in Him. We also believe that being loved by Him in this way changes EVERYTHING. We want to go and grow out of how well He has loved us and the life He has given us. A lot of what we do comes back to finding life and love in Jesus Christ and wanting to help others find what we’ve found together.
